The pipe tool is one of the greatest weapons to the pipe smoker as it allows them to both pack there pipe and manage the ashes while the smoke keeping a nice firm bowl for an even smoke. There many styles of pipe tools available but most come with a tamper for packing, a pick for cleaning and a reamer for cake maintenance (more on the cake later.)
